I am an Emmy Noether group leader at KIT in Karlsruhe, funded by my DFG grant titled Coarse medians as a hyperbolicity surrogate.
Previously, I was a Hirzebruch Research Instructor at Max Planck Institute for Mathematics and at the University of Bonn, where my mentor was Ursula Hamenstädt. I obtained my PhD from the University of Oxford in September 2019, under the supervision of Cornelia Druţu.
My research generally takes place within Geometric Group Theory. I am particularly interested in non-positively curved groups, automorphisms of groups, CAT(0) cube complexes, and median algebras. Other topics I like are Kleinian groups, higher Teichmüller theory, measured group theory and bounded cohomology.
Here is my CV.
Current members of my research group:
- Nicolas Pimenidis (PhD student since 10/2024);
- Marco Amelio (postdoc since 10/2025, co-mentored with Claudio Llosa).
I am currently advertising another PhD position and another postdoc position. The deadline for applications is 13 March 2026.
